Friday Night Lights: It's Always About Family

High school sport's careers pave plenty of paths for the athletes that give it their all on the field. Over the years, the Hi-Line has seen some great talent show up and make the most of their careers in the short four years they have. But, when it comes to the Havre High football team, there is one student-athletes that brings the fire to every game he suits up for.

Senior wide receiver and corner Brock Nystrom has been making a lot of great memories and has shared many moments with the Blue Ponies. The young man has worked his way to where he is now. When it comes to Havre football, it makes a big difference when you work hard every chance you get.

Nystrom has been though a lot in his high school career, but he is proud of how far he has come.

"It was kind of slow in the beginning," Nystrom said. "I was dealing with some injuries. Then, I got a lot of support from my teammates and my coach, Coach Gatch especially. He really helped me out with a lot of stuff. It's been awesome. I'm getting into it now. It's been good."

And over the years, Nystrom has participated in the homecoming celebration that Havre High puts on every year. Now, as a senior, Nystrom will be a part of his last homecoming in his high school career. Friday night will be full of emotions and fire for Nystrom, which will fuel his game throughout the night.

Homecoming is always exciting for everyone involved and Nystrom is looking forward to the festivities, too.

"It's exciting," Nystrom said. "Everybody loves homecoming. Hopefully, we get out there and kick some butt."

But, this year is pretty odd for Nystrom, like many athletes, as COVID-19 has been a constant force that has been looming across the state for months. Luckily, Nystrom has been able to get out on the field and compete in his senior season, which reflects in his play on the turf, as he gives it his all like it is his last game.

Despite the threat of COVID-19, Nystrom has been headstrong in pushing forward. No matter what is in his way, he breaks through and puts on a show. There are a lot of ways that Nystrom makes the most of his moments, whether it be locking down at his corner position on the Blue Pony defense, but making sure he is ready when he is needed on the offense, too.

Nystrom shared his thoughts on what it has been like for him playing during the COVID-19 era, as well as rising in his game at the corner position.

"It's been a little bit different," Nystrom said. "Just different. But I'm just happy we get to go out and play some football. I just work on getting into that state of mind. When I'm with the guys, I got their back and they got my back. We're ride or die."

Nystrom is not only a stellar athlete, but he is an excellent student, too. Nystrom makes sure he is just as attentive to his school work. Nystrom has had a history of participating in plenty of student activities. Nystrom makes the most of his time on and off the field, which shows just how dedicated he is to the things he loves doing.

And over the years, Nystrom has enjoyed every last moment he has gotten to share with the Blue Ponies, as well as what he aims to do in his last season with the Ponies.

"Looking back, it's everything," Nystrom said. "Win or lose, we're a family. We're all in it together. I want to get better. I'm looking to be a lockdown corner and do the best I can for my team on offense and defense. Just get better every day."

Get ready, Blue Pony fans. Nystrom will be back on the field tonight in Blue Pony Stadium to give it his all against a tough Miles City Cowboys squad. The lockdown corner and rising wide receiver looks to end his senior year on a good note.
