Grief Poem - Dancing Into Autumn

It’s been a while since you were here, we’ve memories of Romance.

We’re busy here most every day, peek down when you’ve a chance.

We pause to dream when stars are out and there’s a bright full moon

Sure takes us back to ‘Way back when” — that special day in June.

Not often do we hear love songs, oh, yes, I still love you.

This interlude of passing time, to you I will be true.

You may be gone; know you are missed. Forgotten? No, you’re NOT.

If we’d made plans, for sure you were, a Johnny-on-the-spot!

Our loved ones go, they skip away, dear memories always kept.

Deep in our hearts, we miss them so, we never will forget.

We’d like to dance as Autumn comes, as young and old folks do.

And someday soon, when we’re call ‘Home,’ we’ll dance along with you!

One never knows how I’d miss you, a life linked with my own;

Seems every day in some small way I/we travel life alone.

I never said ‘goodbye,’ my dear, but that is just as well;

I never could have said ‘Goodbye” to one I loved so well.

Birdies do dance, prepare for trip, they KNOW that Autumn’s HERE!

The two of us, we used to dance; a couple times each year.

As each day dawns we think of you, we whisper soft and low;

May God bless you, the one we loved, just know we miss you so.

You’ve only gone ahead of us; you’ve not left us behind.

Although we can’t be with you now, you’re in our heart and mind.

Be it a week, a month, five years, our heart still has a hole.

We need a hug, a listening ear, a friend to sooth, console.

We know you’re safe in Jesus’ arms, and that you’re free from pain.

So, dance and sing and rest in peace, for soon we’ll meet again.
