News you can use
Thirty years ago, a group of students decided to pray for their school. They gathered one morning at the flag pole in front of the schoolhouse. What began as a few students has blossomed into an annual tradition known as See You At The Pole. Teenagers across America come together, typically on the fourth Wednesday of September, to pray for their friends, families, and others who impact their lives.
In most years, Havre students participate at their particular schools. 2020 is not like most years. With students scheduled on opposite days and since social distancing is a concern, the decision was made to take See You At the Pole off campus completely. Instead this year we are all invited to come together to pray for our schools, community, state, nation and world Friday, Sept. 25, at 3:30 p.m. at the flagpole in Town Square.
The theme verse this year is 2 Kings 23:25, “Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the Lord as he did — with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses.” We are reminded that we need our focus to be on pleasing God. The Bible is full of stories of the various kings. Many of the kings lost their focus on God as they became more concerned with personal power and desire. When they turned away from the Lord they found failure but when they turned toward Him they found fulfillment.
As we pray next Friday, our goal will be to turn our own hearts to the Lord. This is not a political movement. This is not a denominational movement. This is a movement of turning our hearts toward God. We have all kinds of challenges in this world, but as we seek God first everything else seems to fall into place.
I would love to invite you to participate in prayer with us, either in person or remotely!
