Havre Elks Lodge No. 1201 recently donated $2,000 to Bear Paw Volunteer Fire Department and $2,000 Plant A Seed ... READ!
"Our lodge was pleased to present the Bear Paw Volunteer Fire Department with $2,000 to upgrade the fire company's 3 spray nozzles," Havre Lodge Exalted Ruler Matt Kretchmer said. "Volunteer fire fighters and the job they do as first responders is greatly appreciated by the Elks as an organization and the Havre Elks Lodge locally. We were pleased to present the Bear Paw Fire Department with $2,000 to enable them to respond more efficiently to the communities and people in rural Hill County."
For the third year in a row, Plant A Seed ... READ! received a donation from the Elks.
"The continued support of the Havre Elks has enhanced our sustainability in sending books to children in both Blaine and Hill County this past year," Plant a Seed ... READ! Dirctor Lorraine Verploegen said. "You've taken your roll in early childhood literacy with this support seriously because of the difference it makes in the lives of not only the children but with their families. We ask for your support once again to continue the enrollment of 33 children who you currently support in the Imagination Library program, but also for 17 children who will lose their books due to the grant that initially sponsored them is no longer available."
Kretchmer said the donations to these two organizations came from two different grants.
"We are celebrating 152 years as a fraternal organization in 2020. The Elks National Foundation in celebration of our 152nd anniversary, offered every lodge across the country, the opportunity to apply for a for different grants for our youth or community-based projects," he said
The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is the premiere charitable and patriotic organization in the nation. The Elks works to assist veterans, youth and communities. Locally, Havre Lodge No. 1201 has 236 members and is always looking for new members.
