Hill County Courthouse gets a new chiller

Work has begun installing a chiller unit in the Hill County Courthouse, which Hill County Building Manager Daryl Anez said should be operational in about two weeks.

"Just in time for winter," he said jokingly.

The unit was originally meant to be installed back in June, but the pandemic slowed the project down considerably as parts needed for the installation faced significant shipping delays.

The Hill County Courthouse had been without a working chiller unit all summer.

Nault Plumbing and Heating, the general contractor for the installation, crews could be seen using a large crane to lift a condenser unit to the top of the building Wednesday morning, but Anez said the unit still needs to be bolted down.

He said the pump and heat exchanger are in the process of being installed in the lower floors of the building itself and the system would require testing before becoming operational, but he's relieved it's finally getting done.
