Chamber holds webinar on transitioning or selling business

Press release

The Montana Chamber is holding a webinar to help people plan for the sale or transition of a business.

In the U.S. today, more than 7 million private companies have owners over the age of 55 and there has been $1.5 trillion raised to buy those companies. In addition, Montana continues to attract strategic acquirers looking to capitalize of the state’s economic growth — No. 8 in the U.S. — and tailwinds tied to a national reverse migration, with people leaving cities for rural locales.

Whether transitioning to the next generation/key employee, selling to a competitor or a private equity firm, planning is key to a successful outcome.

The Montana Chamber welcomes business owners and their clients to participate in a 90-minute session hosted by the Chamber covering legal, accounting, wealth management, valuation and succession planning topics.

The Zoom webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 30, from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Topics at the webinar include:

• Succession planning

• Legal and estate planning

• Tax and accounting implications

• Wealth planning

• What acquirers are seeking

• Current merger and acquisition market review and valuation discussion.

Presenters at the webinar include:

• Ray Round, D.A. Davidson

• Bill VanCanagan, Datsopoulos, Macdonald and Lind

• Vu Pham, Endgame Solutions

• Dana Springer, WipFli

• James Thompson, Alexander Hutton
