News you can use

Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

Why worry

You know, Lord, while looking through the book “Your life is in God’s hand,” by Thomas Lindberg, it’s interesting how he reminds us not to fear, fret, fright, fume or forget.

“Don’t fear,” he writes, then gives an example of slipping a piece of paper inside a book, then shutting the book, demonstrates how we’re hidden with Christ (Colossians 3:3). None can touch us without going through Your caring hand, Lord.

Long ago, there was a song; “Why Worry When You Can Pray,” a depiction of “Don’t fret.” It reminded us that You, oh Lord, are in charge of all things from our beginning to our end, (Philippians 1:12, 19).

When dark clouds cover us, it’s wisest to submit to You. Thomas’s encouragement of “Don’t fight,” we read in Proverbs16:3 — “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”

Thomas’ next item was: “Don’t fume.” Instead of wasting our time fuming, being mad or furious, we are to stop, we are to grow! What we think is a mistake in our lives may be Your way, Lord, of leading us into greater possibilities. We read in Psalm 135:6, “The Lord does whatever pleases Him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.”

And lastly, we are reminded “Don’t forget.” We are to remember that You, Lord, are a loving God, a good God, You are our Friend who desires the best for each one of us! Jeremiah 29:11 — ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

Rule in our hearts today, dear Lord, and be at the helm of our lives, today and every day. Thank You, Lord, for Your encouragement given to us by others.

Love, Mara.
