Obituary - Frances Marie Brekke

Frances Marie Brekke passed away peacefully at home in Havre Friday evening, August 14, 2020, at the age of 81.

Fran, as she liked to be called, was born Oct. 31, 1938, to Knute and Doris (Allen) Brekke of Harlem, MT, where she was raised and attended school. She married James Newfield and later married John Shreve.

Surviving family members are her children, Katrina (Jim) Welch, Russel Newfield, Drue Newfield, Shawn (April) Shreve; grandchildren, Daisy (Bryce) Alexander, Emily Welch, Rebekah Welch, Rachelle (D.J. Senior) Biggle, Jackie Hensley, James Newfield, Aybra Newfield, Sierra Shreve, Emily Shreve, Tyler Shreve and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Alan, Robert "Bruce", Rick, Donna, and two sisters-in-law Kay and Bobbie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Alfred, Harold, Alice, George "Scrud," and Charles "Charlie."

Fran enjoyed traveling and lived in seven different states, residing at various times in Harlem, Chinook and Havre. She enjoyed reading her Bible, spending time with family, as well as camping, hiking and gardening in her younger years. Fran attended services at New Hope Apostolic Church for 15 years. Her gentle quiet spirit will be missed.

Cremation has taken place with Holland and Bonine Funeral Home, and a celebration of life will take place later.
