Why don't we just be nice to each other?

These are interesting times, to say the least, but I don’t need to tell you that.

What I don’t understand about these interesting times is the reason people are attacking one another in their posts and comments online, in person.

I’m not saying you don’t have a right to your own opinion, which you do as do I. But what is the intention behind sharing your opinion? Is it to educate people reading it? Is it your ego that you think you are right? What is your intention?

A lot of comments I have been reading from people have just been so mean. Why are we attacking neighbor versus neighbor? What will it accomplish?

I admit I don’t agree with some things that are going on, but I do know someone is going to be ticked off regardless of actions, but the people making these decisions probably aren’t making them with ill-intent.

In these interesting times, it should be neighbor with neighbor. Not to say we have to agree on everything — because that’s not going to happen, even in the best of times — but we should be there for one another. Listening. Learning. And just being kind.

Life is hard — I don’t need to tell you that, either. But what I want to tell you is: Don’t make life harder for others. Be kind. And, like our mothers have always said, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
