From the Courts - State District Court: Man sentenced on charged reduced to DUI

David Cochran was sentenced to probation on a charge of driving under the influence in a plea agreement that reduced the charge from felony child endangerment to the misdemeanor.

Cochran was charged Feb. 25 with the felony after officers conducting a traffic stop determined he was driving drunk with a young child in the car.

Monday, in state District Court in Havre, he pleaded guilty to the reduced charge.

State District Judge Kaydee Snipes Ruiz sentenced Cochran to six months in jail with all but 10 days suspended and credit for 10 days served and ordered him to pay a $1,200 fine, with credit for documented time he spent on a SCRAM monitoring device, to pay $75 in court fees and surcharges and to obtain and follow recommendations from a chemical dependency assessment.
