North Star Schools is re-opening for its upcoming school year with all students coming back at 100 percent capacity.
Superintendent Bart Hawkins said the district is starting in Phase 2 of the schools’ plan that’s on the school’s website.
He said in almost all settings face masks or coverings will be worn when social distancing is not possible.
Temperature checks will be taken when students, staff and parents upon entering the building. Students who ride the bus will get their temperature checked prior to getting on.
If a student has a temperature of 100.4 or more, they will not be allowed on the bus, and students who walk and are found with a temperature of 100.4 or more will be isolated and sent home.
Hand sanitizer is provided in each classroom.
Cleaning will be frequent by using Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approved cleaning materials or a bleach solution in classrooms, buses and restrooms.
If a COVID-19 case is found in the school, the plan listed on the website says the following steps will be taken, per CDC guidelines:
• “The room, or building wing depending on exposure in other areas, will be shut down for 24 to 48 hours, and parents will be called to pick up their students.
• There is a possibility of the Gildford building or Rudyard building being closed separately from the other if exposure is limited to only one building.
• The room(s) will be closed off for 24 hours to allow air droplets to settle. The room will then be sanitized thoroughly, then aired out.
• If there is proof of COVID in-building, that whole building will be shutdown for a minimum of 48 hours.
• If COVID is suspected or someone without proven infection but has been exposed to it is in the building, the building will be closed for a minimum of 24 hours,” the plan says.
School starts Wednesday.
