News you can use
If you want to move the football, you gotta have the road graders up front to help your offense do it. And over the years, the Frontier Conference has had some outstanding offensive linemen.
And, the 2020 season, which is inching closer to training camps opening, should be no different when it comes to the offensive lines.
At Montana State University-Northern, the offensive line has had its ups and downs in recent years, but third-year head coach Andrew Rolin is excited about what his line can be this season. Of course, the Lights lost two great ones last fall in First-Team All-Conference center Darius Alexander-Jones and Trenton Woodward. And yet, Rolin has some big boys back in the trio of left tackle Tristin Willis, Spencer Kolody and Talafeifeii Scanlan-Malae, all who got plenty of starting time for the Lights last year.
Of course, Northern isn't alone in possessing good offensive lineman. Carroll College head coach Troy Purcell returns a pair of All-Conference talents in senior Alex Hoffman (6-6, 295) and fellow senior Tanner Steele (6-4, 290). Those two should anchor what will be a huge OL at Carroll.
Montana Tech's new head coach Kyle Samson returns nine starters on offense, and while the Orediggers lost some key pieces up front, Samson said he likes junior Trey Copeland (6-3, 260) at right guard and junior Hunter Spartz (6-3, 280) at left tackle. Montana Western has one of the top returning offenses in the league this fall, and a good offensive line is a big reason why. And All-Conference junior Noah Danielson (6-4, 295) anchors that line. Hunter Severson (6-1, 300) is also a veteran leader on the line for head coach Ryan Nourse. Rocky Mountain College should have a stout OL as well with Tanner Bloom (6-2, 285), Trevor Martens (6-2, 307) and Season Makala (6-4, 285) all returning starters.
And while Southern Oregon, Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho won't be playing this fall, they all have plenty of good offensive linemen for when they do take the field.
The Mounties are led by PJ Schubert (6-3, 290), while SOU has a standout in Josh Middleton (6-4, 285).
