Local Golf Report: Men's league playoffs begin tonight

There’s a lot going on in the local golf scene, and it starts with the upcoming playoffs at Prairie Farms Golf Course.

Last week, the men’s league at Prairie saw its regular season come to an end with Wagner Plumbing earning high team Tuesday night, and clinching the regular season top spot in the Tuesday standings. The team scored 24 points and was composed of Dan Wagner, Barry Zanto, Barry Kato and Chuck Wimmer. Jeremy and Jeff Jensen shared low gross, each shooting even-par 36, while Wimmer was low net with a 29. Last Wednesday night saw Bear Paw Credit Union take high-team honors with 22 points. Jeremy Jensen, Lowell Swenson, Steve Brown and Dick Hanson made up the squad, while Kyle Sheppard was low gross with a one-under 35 and Chad Edgar was low net with a 31. HUB Insurance won the Wednesday night regular season title.

The playoffs at Prairie Farms begin tonight with the following matchups: Wagner Plumbing versus Master Sports, BA Ranch taking on DA Davidson, Tire Rama battling Independence Bank and Stockman Bank facing Valley Furniture in one half of the bracket. The other side features HUB battling Patrick Construction, BPCU versus Hole 19, Korb Construction taking on Rock Solid and Michleob Light facing off against Myers Ranch/Baltrusch Land and Cattle.

In women’s league last Thursday night, Rock Solid earned high-team honors with 26 points. The team was composed of Emi Smith, Peggy Lamb, Stacy McIntosh and Teresa Miller. Carrie Kato was low gross with a 40, while Smith was low net with a 32.

Speaking of starting, the Havre High golf season is now just two days away. The Blue Pony season will begin Thursday, and the first meet of the year is next Monday in Great Falls.
