Lights land Sidney mat standout

A new wrestling season is still a ways off, but longtime Montana State University-Northern head coach Tyson Thivierge continues to work on building his already powerful team for not only this coming season, but also well into the future.

And Thivierge did just that by announcing last week that the Lights have signed two-time Class A state champion Jett Jones of Sidney to an NAIA national letter of intent.

Individually, Jones won the 2019 Class A state title at 182 pounds before capturing the 205-pound state championship this past February.

Jones, a three-time state placer overall, also was part of Sidney’s incredible run to the Class A state title in each of those seasons.

“Jett is going to be a massive addition to our experienced lineup and we couldn’t be happier for him to join the team,” Thivierge said in the announcement on the Lights’ Facebook page. “Welcome to the family, Jett, we look forward to you doing great things at MSUN.”

Jones is the third signee of Northern's 2020 recruiting class.
