From the Courts - State District Court: Man sentenced to 30 days probation on reduced charge

Franklin Troy Caplette was sentenced to 30 days probation — with credit for most of a year served — in a plea agreement in which he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

Caplette was charged with criminal possession of dangerous drugs, methamphetamine, Dec. 11.

In a plea agreement, the charges were amended to include a misdemeanor count of obstructing a peace officer or other public servant.

Last Monday, Caplette pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor and district Judge Kaydee Snipes Ruiz sentenced him to 30 days in jail, all suspended, and credited him with 244 days served.

Snipes Ruiz dismissed the felony and a request for a persistent felony offender designation.
