Blaine County Fair events start Sunday with 4-H activities

Blaine County Fair is still set for next week, but with a few cancellations and changes from its normal operations.

“Our fair will look different this year,” Montana State University Blaine County  Extension Agent Juli Snedigar said. “We have been working with 4-H members, leaders, parents, the Blaine County Health Department, Blaine County Fair Board and several others to come up with a plan to make the most of our 2020 Blaine County Fair.”

Fair Manager Debbie Ramberg said all the food booths, carnival and petting zoo have been canceled.

She said they have also canceled the demolition derby, pig wrestling, venders and all open class entries.

4-H is still having a 4-H fair and the Bear Paw Roundup community is still putting on the rodeo with the Doo Wha Riders for entertainment, she said.

Snedigar said people who would like to attend the 4-H fair that the spectators be limited to family of participants.

All the shows will be streamed on Facebook, she said.

People can watch all shows at https://www.facebook.com/blainecountymontana4h/ .

The 2020 Blaine County Fair Youth Livestock Sale will be online, she said, and live in-person.

The sale is Saturday, Aug. 15, at 9 a.m. at the outdoor show arena.

“All supporters are invited to attend in person,” Snedigar said. “Signs will be posted reminding everyone of social distancing.”

People planning to purchase a market animal need to make arrangements with their local meat processor, she said.

She added that they will be delivering animals to Bear Paw Meats and Hi-Line Packing.

People who would like them delivered elsewhere, she said, make arrangements and let the Extension Office know as soon as possible.

Anyone with questions can contact Snedigar at the Blaine County Extension Office at 406-357-3200 or julianne.snedigar@montana.edu.
