The U.S. Border Patrol says goodbye to Patrol Agent in Charge - PAIC - Perla McGoffin on July 31 after 20 years of federal service.
As the first female PAIC of Havre Station, she was responsible for the management and administration of personnel within the Havre Station as well as all enforcement operations along 118 miles of border with Canada.
"I feel honored to have been the first female PAIC at the Havre Station," McGoffin said. "I hope this achievement inspires other females to seek the opportunity in the future to fill the Havre Station PAIC position or at another station."
McGoffin said she plans to retire in the Salt Lake City area to be closer to her son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons.
McGoffin entered on duty with the U.S. Border Patrol July 10, 2000. Her first duty assignment as a Border Patrol Agent was at the Naco Station, Tucson Sector, Arizona. Her career has traveled throughout the United States. She has done tours of duty in El Paso, Texas, Artesia, New Mexico, Lordsburg, New Mexico and Washington, D.C.
Her journey landed her in Havre, Nov. 1, 2015. Since arriving in Havre, she has mentored and guided many agents in their career paths.
"I will miss being around such steadfast people who take the mission of securing the border to heart. I will miss the camaraderie of the agents," McGoffin said.
Being able to move up the ladder has been a great accomplishment for McGoffin, she said.
"I've learned all about professionalism and dedication to duty. What makes the agency so great are the men and women who work every day to make this nation safe," she added.
McGoffin was very active with her local church and said she will miss the community support she received during her tenure.
