The 2020 NAIA volleyball season is hopefully coming soon, and the Montana State Universityy-Northern Skylights just got an excellent late edition to their 2020 recruiting class.
Wednesday, Northern volleyball coach Jerry Wagner has announced the signing of Hailie George to join the Skylights volleyball program. George, a 5-5 libero, recently finished a standout career at Billings Senior High School.
"She is going to be an important factor as we build up the programs ball handing and defense," Wagner said. "I haven't seen Hailie play this year, but legendary Montana Hall of Fame coach Jeff Carroll recommended Hailie. So, I know that Hailie was well coach because of Jeff Carroll and the program that he built at Billings senior high school."
While playing at Billing Senior, George received Second Team All-Conference honors as a junior and Second Team All-State accolades her senior year. She was also a two-time Academic All-State selection.
George originally was headed to Sheridan College in Wyoming.
"I first signed with Sheridan Community College," George said. "They cut the athletic program, and I wanted to continue on with my volleyball career. So, I looked into other schools and chose to come to Northern. I chose Northern because the girls were very nice and I love the program and what they have built. I am just excited to have the chance to further my volleyball career."
George is the daughter of Robin George. She carries a 3.2 grade point average and plans on majoring in nursing at MSU- Northern
"She is going into the nursing program, which is a strong major here at Northern," coach Wagner said. "It will be a great fit academically. Her experience in leadership is going to benefit continues the bolster of the direction that we are taking in this program."
