Havre’s St. Jude Thaddeus Church and St. Jude Thaddeus School were among the 17 Catholic organizations awarded a total of $52,000 by The Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana throughout the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings.
The grant funding will benefit several 13 Catholic parishes, two Catholic schools, and two Catholic non-profit organizations including the Havre parish and school.
“The opportunity to make these grant awards all across eastern Montana is gratifying. Catholic communities of all sizes benefit, from the small, rural communities to our larger cities,” Foundation Board Vice-Chair John Patterson of Columbus said. “As the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana continues to grow, so too will the amount of grants awarded each year to advance our faith.”
“These grants are made possible by donors who believe in the future of the Catholic Church,” added Judy Held, Foundation president added.
Held said the donations support the Foundation’s “Greatest Needs Endowment” and the “Parish Assistance Endowment”, which was started by a donor in Glentana.
Established in 1999 as an independent, nonprofit organization, the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana exists to help families and individuals pass along their Catholic heritage and values for future generations.
“The distributed grant funds stay local, serving the needs of our diocese, just as our generous donors intend,” Held said.
The other organizations receiving an award are:
• Central Catholic High School — Great Falls
• Heisey Community Center — Great Falls
• Holy Family Church — Winifred
• Immaculate Conception — Fort Benton
• Immaculate Conception — Wolf Point
• Mary Queen of Peace Church — Billings
• Our Lady of Lourdes Church — Poplar
• Sacred Heart Church — Glendive
• St. Bernard Church — Billings
• St. Joseph Church — Hardin
• St. Leo the Great Church — Lewistown
• St. Mary Church — Columbus
• St. Patrick Co-Cathedral — Billings

The Catholic Foundation’s Board of Directors reviewed more applications than could be funded this year. They noted that those organizations that were not awarded funds this year can apply for future grants.
