Bullock mandates masks in public settings

Mandate is for counties with four or more active cases, governor urges use in all counties

Gov. Steve Bullock issued a directive effective today requiring people in public settings and gatherings of 50 or more people where social distancing is not possible to wear a mask or cloth face covering.

Bullock said during a press conference Wednesday thes directive is in response to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases and the deaths have come with it.

He said in the last month the state went from 55 to over 1,000 cases, with active cases doubling in the past two weeks, with contact tracing, cluster investigation and similar methods making up almost half of all positive cases found since May.

The state update Wednesday morning lsited 2,096 confirmed cases with 145 new cases listed Wednesday.

Hill County Public Health said this morning new cases were confirmed in this county, bringing the total to 22 confirmations, 19 active cases and 3 recoveries.
