Letter to the Editor - Bullying won't work on my right to support Trump

Editor,

To the individual or individuals who recently mailed an anonymous post card to my home to express their disgust for my Trump flag displayed on the front of my property, I’m unmoved by your attempt at “embarrassing” me into removing it for your sake.

Bullying and intimidation tactics do not work on me or other Trump supporters so I would suggest a different tact. But I do understand how frustrating it can be to accept that others do not share my opinions or the choice of leaders I would vote for, as I too have felt those same emotions. That passion for change made me work all that much harder to see it though, after all our nation affords us that right at each election.

Perhaps the most important tenet of our constitutional republic though is the absolute right to freedom of speech. Recent strife in our country accompanied by the left’s nonstop attempts to censor, eliminate and erase thoughts and opinions contrary to their own beliefs notwithstanding, this right remains and is guaranteed by our constitution. This absolute freedom not only protects your right to criticize me for flying the flag in support of President Trump and his re-election, but guarantees my right to display it.

In that spirit, I will continue to defend your right to criticize my flag while applauding your right to display the flag of your choice on your own home.

May God continue to bless the United States of America and President Donald J. Trump.
