Obituary - Lenore Bell Watkins

Lenore Bell Watkins became one of God's angels June 10, 2020.

She was 94 years old, classy and sassy! She passed peacefully at home with her daughter, Kelly, by her side.

Lenore was born November 9, 1925, to Mary and Percy Mackenstadt in Platte, South Dakota. Her family later moved to Rocky Boy when she was 9 years old. There she was given her Indian name, "little girl with blonde curls." A few years later they moved to Chinook, MT. Lenore graduated from Chinook High School.

Over the years, she was employed at Hurdas Drug Store, Pastime Steakhouse and JCPenny. During World War II, she went to Seattle and worked for Boeing.

She met Robert Watkins, fell in love and they were married October 19, 1945. They moved to the family farm north of Chinook. There she began her life as a farmer's wife and mother of four children.

Lenore had many talents, including; crafts, paint by numbers, sewing, dancing and singing. She also loved gardening and working on her yard. She decorated her mailbox for every season and holiday. Soon, that became a conversation piece and favorite of the neighbors and passersby. There was always a place for you at her table, she enjoyed bringing people together. She loved hosting pinnacle parties and holiday dinners.

Over the years, she became a second mom to many and grandma to even more. She touched many hearts in her lifetime and has left lasting memories.

Lenore was full of color and style. Her sparkling caps became her signature trademark and she wore them with pizazz!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Percy; brothers, Ronnie and Dale; her husband, Bob, and their two sons Curtis and Ricky.

She is survived by her son Gerald;, daughter Kelly; sister, Ilo McKay; grandchildren, Gary and Julie Watkins and Jameson Teel; six-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest at Kuper Memorial Cemetary in Chinook.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one's choice.
