Steven Lee Strike Sr. was convicted including for a felony assault charge after a one-day trial
in state District Court in Havre.
After deliberating for 2 hours and 32 minutes Thursdsay, a jury convicted Strike of a felony count of partner or family member assault, felony aggravated burglary and a misdemeanor count of violating a no contact order.
Strike originally was charged with felony partner or family member assault — he had two prior convictions on the offense — and burglary after a woman, for whom a no contact order was issued prohibiting Strike from contacting her, called law enforcement to say he had come into her residence without her permission, argued with her and also “chest-bumped” her.
She told law enforcement that because of past actions by Strike, she was afraid during the encounter.
The charges later were amended to the felony counts of aggravated burglary and partner or family member assault and the misdemeanor count of violating a no contact order.
Judge Olivia Rieger scheduled sentencing for July 22.
