Hauser benefit rescheduled as virtual auction

A postponed benefit to help defray medical costs and lost wages for Gildford resident Ted Hauser has been rescheduled as a virtual auction.

The auction features dozens of items and will take place on Facebook from July 6-13.

Hauser had surgery in Great Falls to clear his lungs during a severe bout with pneumonia in November. Shortly after Christmas, he was rushed back to Great Falls, where he went through an unexpected quadruple heart bypass surgery as well as a lengthy hospital stay and recovery. He continues to struggle with his health and remains unable to work.

Originally, a chili feed and silent auction event was planned to help the Hauser family cope with the medical costs and lost wages. However, the event was canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions. Continued concerns related to large gatherings and the spread of the virus led organizers to take a different tact.

Items donated for the original event now will be auctioned online, including a Samsung tablet, Air Pods, Amazon Echo, $750 worth of gutter work, local gift certificates, art and jewelry as well as numerous themed baskets.

A preview of all the auction items will be available one week prior to the start of bidding. Items will be posted individually for bidding to begin July 6. People can bid as many times as they like through midnight, July 13, and winners will be contacted to arrange delivery or pick up.
