From the Courts - State District Court: Woman sentenced to five years probation for child endangerment

Teresa Angel Jiron was sentenced to five years probation after she previously pleaded guilty in a plea agreement to driving while intoxicated with a baby in the car.

District Judge Kaydee Snipes Ruiz sentenced Jiron in state District Court in Havre, Monday on a felony charge of endangering the welfare of a child to five years with the state Department of Corrections, all suspended, and ordered her to pay $130 in fees and surcharges, graduate from the Hill County treatment court and enter an anger management program.

Jiron was charged after a caller told the Havre Police Department Nov. 5 that she was in a vehicle parked in a bar’s parking lot with a baby in the car. Police reported that Jiron refused to exit her vehicle when she was pulled over, assaulted officers in the county jail who were trying to take her to the hospital for a blood test and was abusive while at the hospital.

She was charged with the count of child endangerment and felony counts of assault on a peace officer and attempted assault on a peace officer and misdemeanor counts of obstructing a peace officer and disorderly conduct.

She pleaded guilty to the endangerment charge April 22 in a plea agreement.
