From the Courts - State District Court: Man resentenced to state custody for violating conditions of release

Dion L. Longknife was sentenced to the remainder of his previous sentence, to Dec. 16, 2021, for violating conditions of his release on a previous sentence.

Longknife admitted in December to violating conditions of his suspended sentence for failing to register as a violent offender.

District Judge Kaydee Snipes Ruiz revoked his suspended sentence Monday in state District Court in Havre and resentenced him for the remainder of his sentence to the state Department of Corrections, giving him no credit for street time or time served.

Longknife pleaded guilty in December 2017 to failing to register as a violent offender when he moved from Phillips County to Havre.

He was sentenced to five years suspended with credit for 401 says served.

The Hill County Attorney’s Office filed a petition to revoke his suspended sentence after he was arrested in Yellowstone County on suspicion of partner or family member assault, and criminal possession of dangerous drugs and for having alcohol and marijuana in his system and for entering a bar.
