Construction between Havre and Beaver Creek Park on Montana Secondary Highway 234, also known as Beaver Creek Highway, has begun.
Montana Department of Transportation Great Falls District Construction Engineer Rich Hibl said the project, which starts at milepost 4.2 and ends at 6.4, is expected to improve the safety of the section of roadway.
"The shoulder-widening and slope-flattening is intended to reduce the frequency and severity of single vehicle road departure crashes," he said.
The contract consists of 90 working days, he said, which is roughly four-and-a-half months.
He added that some delays in traffic should be expected as the work progresses.
"Please pay attention to posted speed limits and construction signing," Hibl said. "Move through the project safely."
