The tournament season was delayed due to COVID-19, but it returns this weekend in the form of the annual NALSF Tournament at Prairie Farms Golf Course. The Northern tourney will be the first tournament played at either local golf course this season.
And with COVID-19 restrictions still in place, as Montana is currently in Phase II of Gov. Steve Bullock’s re-opening plan, the event, which will be held Saturday, will have a different look. For starters, the field has been reduced to just 18 four-person scramble teams. Also, the annual fundraiser auction and calcutta, which is normally held Friday night at the Eagles, has been moved to Saturday morning at Prairie Farms before the tournament starts. Also, all meals will be served to-go style, and social distancing will be practiced in the Prairie Farms Clubhouse and Events Center.
Prairie Farms has its tournament schedule set for the remainder of the summer as well. The Rotary Blast is next up on July 12, while a new tournament. The Waddell & Reed Member Guest will be held Aug. 1-2. The Natalie Patrick Foundation Tournament, which is normally in June, was rescheduled for Aug. 15, and the Club Championship will be held Aug. 23.
Beaver Creek Golf Course is also working on its tournament schedule, including the Grip It and Rip It Tournament July 11-12. Course owner Rob Gomke said more tournament information will be coming soon.
The second week of golf league is also in the book. In men's league at Prairie Farms last Tuesday night, Rock Solid and Hole 19 tied for high team with 20 points. Dave Sheppard, Tom Haas, Gary Stremcha and Steve McLain made up Rock Solid, while Jim Kirkpatrick, Mark Larson, Mike Purkett and Gerry Veis composed Hole 19. Levi Olson fired a stellar round of two-under par to earn low gross, while Larson was low net with a 32.
Wednesday night, D.A. Davidson was high team with 21 points. Jim Wirt, Barry Zanto, Frank Peterson and Dave Greenwood composed the team. Jim Kato and Mike Kelley tied for low gross at 37 and Kerry Ward was low net with a 31.
In ladies league last Thursday night, Double R was high team with 23.5 points. Tammy Boles, Paige Henderson, Connie Peterson and Laramie Schwenke made up the team. Sarah Spangler shot a 39 for low gross, while Alicia Goodrich was low net with a 25.
