Rocky Boy COVID-19 tests come back negative

All of the results from the COVID-19 tests from samples collected at a drive-through testing clinic Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation held a week ago, came back negative.

The drive-through testing occurred May 28-29, with a total of 1,428 people tested both days.

“It is very comforting knowing our community currently has no cases,” Rocky Boy Health Board Chief Information Officer Misty Denny said. “Together, our community has worked diligently to prevent the coronavirus from entering our community.”

She said they still have to continue to exercise caution and protect their tribal members.

They may have negative tests now, she said, but that does not mean someone cannot still contract the virus and infect others.

The checkpoints at entrances to the reservation are still in place and will remain in effect until further notice, she said, adding that the curfew is still in effect as well.

“Rocky Boy Health Center still encourages the community to follow CDC guidelines, practice social distancing, wear a mask, practice hand-hygiene, limit your outings, etc.” Denny said.

She said their community is still encouraging members to limit travel to essential travel only.

Another drive-through testing is planned for July with no determined date yet, she said.

“Those who exhibit symptoms and meet the criteria to be tested can be tested at our facility,”  Denny said.

Rocky Boy Health Center is located 6850 Upper Box Elder Rd, Box Elder, MT 59521.

Hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Tuesday is administration day with hours 8 a.m. to noon.
