Bear Paw Roundup PRCA Rodeo moved to August

We've seen a lot of cancellations, and in fact, full seasons cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And that includes many rodeos on the Montana pro rodeo circuit.

And already locally, the Great Northern Fair has been canceled as of Tuesday night, and with it, the Great Northern Ram Rodeo and the Havre Junior Rodeo. The Four Colors Memorial Bull Riding had also been canceled last month.

However, the Hi-Line's biggest rodeo is still a go, though it will have a new date.

The Blaine Country Fair recently announced it was moving to August this year, and with it, the annual PRCA Bear Paw Roundup. The standout rodeo, with one of the biggest payouts in Montana, was schedule for July 9-10, will now take place Aug. 13-14 at the Blaine Country Fairgrounds. The Chinook Kids Rodeo will also still be held, Wednesday, Aug. 12.

No announcement had been made about the acutal rodeos during the Great Northern Fair as of Tuesday night, but the fair announced the cancellation of the entire fair, so if any rodeos are to take place in Havre this summer, they will be seperate from the Great Northern Fair.

Other big rodeos in Montana however, have already fallen by the wayside due to the pandemic, including big and historical events in Livingston, Red Lodge and Augusta. The Fort Benton Summer Celebration was also canceled for this summer, which means that PRCA Rodeo is also off the schedule.

So, like everything else in the pandemic's grip, rodeo, which also lost the College National Finals that were set to start next week in Casper, Wyoming, has also taken a big hit thus far.
