Havre weed ordinance in effect

Havre Police Department is reminding residents within city limits that the city of Havre’s nuisance weed ordinance went into effect May 1.

Property owners with grass and or weeds that have grown taller than 8 inches will receive a notice of the violation.

If the property owner does not cut or remove the vegetation within 10 days, city crews will do the work and the property owner will be charged the cost of the removal.

Owners will receive only one notice of violation per year. After that the city will remove the nuisance grass or weeds without additional notice of an ordinance violation, and the property owner will be charged after the work is completed each time.
