Local Golf Report: Golf leagues set to begin this week

From Tee to Gree

This week will be a big one for both Prairie Farms and Beaver Creek Golf Courses. And not just because it's supposed to get hot outside.

No, at both courses, leagues will finally begin. Obviously, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the start of leagues, which normally get going sometime in April. However, with Montana Gov. Steve Bullock announcing plans to move to Phase II of the re-opening of Montana, gatherings of up to 50 people are now allowed, which will certainly allow room for golf leagues.

Men's league at Prairie Farms begins this Tuesday and Wednesday, while ladies league at Prairie Farms will start Thursday night. Men's league at BCGC also begins this Thursday night.

All players are reminded that golf social distancing guidelines are still in effect. I'd also like to take this time to remind all league secretaries to please have their weekly results to me every Sunday night so it can be published in the next From Tee to Green.

Golf tournaments are also on the horizon in our area.

This coming weekend was to mark the start of tournament season with the annual Golfing for a Cure, but that tournament was canceled. Also in June, the annual Natalie Patrick Foundation Scramble normally takes place, but that tournament has been moved to Aug. 15 according to tournament organizer Brett Patrick.

But, while those two June tournaments have changed, one that's keeping its date is the annual NALSF Scramble. The NALSF will move forward with its annual fundraising golf tournament June 13 at Prairie Farms. The tournament will certainly be different this year, with a limited field, and other differences to adhere to current COVID-19 restrictions, but, nevertheless, it will be the first tourney to be played this season.
