Havre elementary schools have scheduled slots when students can pick up their belongings this week, starting today.
Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees voted this month to continue distanced learning through the end of this year, continuing the directive ordered by Gov. Steve Bullock starting March 15.
Under the Phase One re-opening, schools had the option to re-open May 7, but Havre, which announced March 15 it would to go to distanced learning before Bullock issued his directive, declined to do so, saying it could not enforce social distancing if it re-opened the classrooms.
The schools have scheduled when students can come in to pick up what they still have in the buildings, starting today at Sunnyside Intermediate School.
An alternative pick-up time for working parents and guardians who can’t make the scheduled time is set for Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Pick-up times are scheduled alphabetically based on last name from 9 to 11 a.m., with the students with last names starting with A through F scheduled for this morning.
Tuesday will have students with last names starting with G through L Wednesday is for names starting with M through S, and Thursday is for names starting with T through W.
At Highland Park Early Primary School students’ items will be returned in a paper sack.
Wednesday, kindergarten students from Mary Jo Wells, Haley Kline, Jade McCormick and Lynette Stortz’ classes can pick up their belongings from 9 to 11 a.m. Students from Danielle Faechner, Michelle Courchene, Sheila Neuwerth and Tiffany Olsen’s classes can pick up theirs from 4 to 6 p.m.
Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m., first grade students can pick up their belongings if they are in Amanda Hansen, Jennifer Mansfield, June Welch and Ilene St. Marks classes. If they are in Laura Bradshaw, Julianne Henry, DaNelle Bakke and Cori Meldrum’s classes can pick up their stuff from 4 to 6 p.m.
Principal Mark Irvin said one adult can leave their vehicle to request their child’s belongings, but the children need to stay in the vehicles.
All items will be delivered through the main office entrance, he said, adding that staff will be there to assist and bring them the item.
“We hope to have your memory book, if you purchased one, in your child’s pick-up bag.” Irvin said.
At Lincoln-McKinley Primary School students can retrieve their materials Wednesday and Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m or 4 to 6 p.m.
Second grade pick up will be in the bus loading zone on the north side of the building, while third grade will occur on the south side.
Library books are also asked to be returned to the proper school building during this time.
