MSU-N wrestling inks a pair of mat standouts from Washington state

Montana State University-Northern head wrestling coach Tyson Thivierge has announced two new signees for his 2020 recruiting class.

Tuesday, Thivierge announced the signing of Georgino Moraga from Lynwood, Washington, and Josh Walker from Spanaway, Washington.

Walker is transferring to Northern from Arizona Christian University. Walker was a two-time Washington state champion at Bethel High School, prior to attending Arizona Christian University in 2019-2020.

At ACU, he placed 2nd at the Mile High Open, 4th at the Menlo Open and 4th at the California Collegiate Open and he placed 8th at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships in 2020 as a true freshman at 184 pounds. Walker was the NAIA National Championships alternate in 2020 in Wichita, Kansas. He plans on majoring in criminal justice and will be redshirting this coming season.

“We are very happy to have Josh Walker join the family,” Thivierge said.

Moraga comes from Lynwood where he was a two-time Washington state qualifier. In his senior season, Moraga finished 7th at 152 pounds in the 3A classification.

“Georgino is eager to get started here at Northern, and we are excited to have him join the family,” Thivierge said.
