Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees swore in three trustees Tuesday at the board meeting and approved the K-8 music curriculum.

In Havre, incumbent school board trustees Curtis Smeby, Cindy Erickson and Timothy Scheele retained their seats as the three highest vote-getters.

Erickson received 1,842 votes, Scheele 1,841 and Smeby 1,601. Challenger Erin Pulse received 1,331.

The board re-elected Aileen Couch as chair and Harvey Capellen as vice-chair at its meeting Tuesday.

"There were, in total, 2,567 total ballots cast," District Clerk Shanna Flores said.

The K-8 music curriculum was approved unanimously by the board.

"There are no changes from what is being currently taught, it's nice that we have a common format now that our music curriculum will align with our middle school and high school," Assistant Superintendent Craig Mueller said.

The next special board meeting will be Tuesday, May 26, at 12:15 p.m. at Robins School Administration Building.

The next board meeting will be Tuesday, June 9, at 6:30 p.m at Havre Middle School.
