Goldie Maze turns 102

Goldie Maze, a resident at Havre Eagles Manor, turned 102 Sunday.

Maze was born May 10, 1918, in Poplar.

She said she grew up on a farm with her younger sister, Doris, where they cooked and raised chickens, pigs and cows.

"I've lived in the country most of my life, so I'm not up on what goes around the big cities," she said.

She said she spends most of her time making dog beds and TV blankets for people.

"Just something to occupy my time," Maze said. "When I was younger I didn't have time to sew. I used to crochet when I could see."

Throughout the years, she said, the biggest thing she has learned is to be tolerant with people.

She spent most of her life in Havre but after her husband, Archie Maze, died in 1984, she moved to a number of places around Montana and the country, living with her children. She was living with her son Larry Maze in Kentucky when she decided to move back, moving into Havre's Eagles Manor where her mother also lived.

At the Manor, she said, they take good care of her and that everybody is nice to her.

"I'm just here till the end," Maze said.
