District 4 Human Resources Development Council is hosting a stay-at-home soiree fundraiser throughout the month of May.
“The stay-at-home soiree is a mail-in fundraiser that we’re doing in place of our usual Tacos and Tunes event that we would hold around this time of year,” HRDC Administrative Officer Cassy Springer said.
She said it is a fundraiser for the Havre Community Food Bank, which HRDC administers.
The food bank has been in a higher demand due to the COVID-19 outbreak, she added.
“We are inviting our community to donate to the food bank and help feed our local families,” Springer said.
A flyer is available on the HRDC Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/district4hrdc, to print and to fill out.
The form offers the opportunity to help the food bank instead of going out.
It includes options like: “Instead of buying an overpriced cocktail, here’s my $10,” and “I never win the 50/50 anyway, here’s my $50.”
Springer said the flyer isn’t necessary to make donations, but it is easier to track them that way.
People can mail-in their donations to HRDC at 2229 Fifth Ave., Havre, MT, 59501, or they can bring it by HRDC.
“I think this is the most mindful way to fundraise right now because you are sending them a letter and they aren’t being contacted directly by a person, like face-to-face, or over the phone or something like that,” she said. “They can decide whether or not they feel comfortable donating at this time, I think the last thing people need is more pressure on them during this whole thing, so I just wanted the stay-at-home soiree to be just a no pressure fundraiser.”
The theme is stay at home and be comfortable because she wanted people to be as comfortable as possible during these times, she added.
