Montana State University-Northern head women's basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced his first signee of the 2020 recruiting class.
Earlier this week, Mouat announced the signing of Brandi White to join the Skylight basketball program next fall. White, a 5-9 guard, recently finished a standout career at North Creek High School in Bothell, Washington.
White was a two-year varsity player as a freshman and sophomore at Juanita High School in Kirkland, Washington, and was a two-year starter at North Creek High School as a junior and senior. As a senior, she averaged 19 points per game for the Jaguars, who compete in King County's 4A League. She holds North Creek's all-time, single season records for highest scoring average, most three-point field goals made, 3-point field goal percentage and total points scored. As a junior, White was named an Honorable Mention All-King County (4A) selection, and as a senior, she was a Second Team pick. For her career, she scored over 1,000 points..
"Brandi can really stretch a defense with her ability to shoot the ball," said Mouat. "She has good range and a quick shot and a shooter's mentality. She also does some good things off of the dribble and in mid-range. She hit nearly 150 threes in the past two years while playing in a good league, and hit a career-high nine in one game. She can really shoot it."
This season, White shot 35 percent from the 3-point line, connecting on 81 of 230 attempts. As a junior, she was 67 for 179 from beyond the arc, good for 37 percent.
"Brandi has been around our team and program, so we feel really comfortable with her," Mouat said. "We were fortunate to have Brandi here on a visit during the season, so we got to know her pretty well. She fit right in with our players, and I believe she's an excellent addition to our program and university. She does a great job on the court and in the classroom, and we are looking forward to her progress as a student-athlete at MSU-Northern."
White is the daughter of Fred and Ada White. She carries a 3.4 grade point average and plans on majoring in business at MSU-Northern. She is Mouat's first signee in the class of 2020.
