DLI issues over $62M in UI payments April 13-17

Press release

HELENA — The Montana Department of Labor and Industry today announced that more than 74,000 UI payments totaling more than $62 millino were issued over the week of April 13-17, providing benefits to Montanans impacted by COVID-19.

That figure includes both regular UI benefits, and the additional $600 weekly Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation benefits established with the passage of the third phase of the federal stimulus package, or CARES Act.

“We are working as hard as we can to make sure that everyone receives their benefits as quickly as possible,” Acting Commissioner Brenda Nordlund said. “These benefits are providing economic stability to our families and communities, and we recognize how important it is to receive them in a timely manner. We are encouraging Montanans to file an application for unemployment benefits the week they become unemployed.”

UI payments figures do not represent the number of individuals who have received payment. Individual claimants could have two payments in that total, or one payment representing two weeks’ worth of benefits.

A landing page for easy access to relevant Labor Market Information, including daily UI claims, is available at http://dli.mt.gov/labor-market-information .

DLI is encouraging people with technical, eligibility or benefits questions regarding the UI claimant portal on MontanaWorks.gov to view the COVID-19 resource website at http://dli.mt.gov/covid-19. A variety of information for both Montana workers and employers are available, in addition to resources to help claimants navigate the unemployment process.
