Staff members at Timber Creek Village are making "Ding Dong Ditch" bags filled with essential groceries to pass out to people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Administrator Tina Petersen said these bags are for the elderly or older people who shouldn't be going out.
The process "Ding Dong Ditch," she said, is the idea of ringing the doorbell and running away after dropping off the bags of groceries.
She added that she found the idea from a friend who is a regional manager at another assisted living facility in Illinois.
"When I saw her idea I was like, 'I love it," we could make a difference and something we could totally do in this community," Peterson said, "we were just on board right away."
People who need bags brought to them can contact Peterson or Administrator Assistant Erin May at Timber Creek Village at 265-3111.
"We just really want to help because we know our residents might be bored right now with the shelter-in-place, but they are being taken care," Petersen said. "It's kind of our way of giving back. It's been really good, it's been so much fun to see the older people's faces."
