Two deadly fires in Havre area over the weekend

Two separate fires in the Havre area caused two deaths over the weekend.

Havre Sheriff and Coroner Jamie Ross said the names of the victims have not yet been released.

The first was a victim of a garage fire called in at 11:22 p.m. Saturday 11 on the 700 Block of 38th Avenue West. Firefighters put out the fire by 11:50 p.m.

A resident of the home was found dead on the scene, no other injuries were reported, but the garage was a total loss.

The matter was turned over to the Hill County Sheriff’s Office for investigation. The Sheriff’s Office was not able to comment on the investigation this morning as it is on-going.

The second fire was on the 10 block of Beaver Creek Boulevard at 1:49 a.m. Sunday.

The apparent cause was smoking in bed, the Havre Fire Department reported. One fatality was reported with no other injuries and minor smoke damage to the house.

The victim was found dead on the scene.
