Lights 2020 football signing class grows to 27

Northern inks 12 Montana high school football standouts

It was not long ago, Montana State University-Northern head coach Andrew Rolin announced the first part of his 2020 recruiting class. But over the course of the last month, the class has certainly grown.

Rolin recently updated the Lights' signees, as Norther's new class is up to 27 total players.

Headlining that list is 12 Montana standouts, including Havre Blue Pony offensive lineman Case Henderson. The Lights also recently added another local prospect in Chester-Joplin-Inverness tight end Caden Woods (6-2, 205), who was a two-way all Northern C player this past season for the Hawks.

The list of Montana recruits also includes, Miles City defensive end Jacolby Mattoon (6-0, 230), Great Falls High wide receiver Trey Short (5-11, 180), Park City linebacker Carson Baker (6-1, 170), GFH tight end Lane VanderMars (6-2, 210), Great Falls Central linebacker Cayle Schraner (6-1, 190), Billings West defensive lineman Cole Curry (5-11, 225), Helena Capital tight end Kaelen Casey (5-11, 220), Gerladine-Highwood's (5-11, 225), Browning defensive end Justin Anderson (6-5, 200) and CMR OL Nick Hergescheimer (6-3, 270).

Out-of-state high school recruits for the Lights include kicker/punter Sawyer Zook of Castle Rock, Colorado, cornerback Aiden Hoyt of Vancouver, Washington, running back Izayah Boss and OL Shane Freund both of Bothell, Washington, wide receiver Ashton Callaway of Houston, Texas, OL Jesus Raygoza of Moses Lake, Washington, quarterback Devonte Armstrong of Las Vegas, Nevada, CB Noah Thompson, also of Las Vegas, running back Jeremiah Johnson of Des Moines, Washington, WR Jeremiah Johnson of Seattle, WR Dylan Vongphachanh of Fresno, California and Nick Mitchell of Bothell, Washington.

The Lights also signed DL Blake Gibb of Lethbridge, Alberta and brought in transfers Bryce Edmonson (LB) from Georgetown of Kentucky and WR Dorian Miles, an NCAA Division I transfer from Kennesaw State.

Rolin said that he'd be adding some late additions to the 2020 class as well.

The Lights were set to begin spring ball on Monday, but spring football has been canceled across the Frontier Conference due to COVID-19.
