Safety improvement project on U.S. Highway 87 proposed

GREAT FALLS — The Montana Department of Transportation announced and invited the public to comment on a safety improvement project to install shoulder rumble strips on U.S. Highway 87.

The U.S. 87 Safety Improvement Project begins just north of Great Falls and ends just south of Big Sandy.

Rumble strips are designed to save lives and prevent serious crashes. The Department of Transportation is designing the safety improvement project on U.S. 87 to address roadway departure and crashes along this route.

Construction is tentatively planned for 2021 depending on completion of design and availability of funds.

An important part of properly planning for future projects is partnering with the community. The Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project.
