Blaine, Liberty counties restrict restaurant, bar access

In response to the urge to use “social distancing” to reduce exposure to novel coronavirus 2019, two more counties have joined communities restricting access to bars and restaurants and other facilities.

Blaine County Health Officer Jessica Sheehy isusued an order Thursday restricting access today in Blaine County, and Liberty County Commissioner Joette Woods said access is restricted there as well.

At noon today in Blaine County, all bars, casinos and restaurants will be closed to the public, with the exception of drive-thru, pick-up and delivery.

The order is in effect from noon today through Friday, March 27, pending further notification.

Sheehy restricted bar and restaurant access in Hill County, where she also is health officer, Tuesday to pick-up and delivery.

The Hill County order also restricts the number of people, including staff, who can be in gymnasiums, athletic clubs, fithness studios and yoga studios to 10 people.

The order is effective through Tuesday pending further notification.

Woods said only curbside pick-up or delivery will be available in Liberty County for businesses, banks and restaurants.

The local food bank began curbside assistance Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. and that will continue Wednesdays till further notice, she said.

School is currently shut down and online classes will begin on Monday, she said.

She added that meals are being delivered locally from the senior center and the local transit bus that will be taking people to the local grocery store for essentials.

“This community has responded very well to the Board of Health recommendations and are following them without hesitation,” Woods said.

No updates have been made in Chouteau County since Thursday.

Most restaurants, bars and casinos are taking it upon themselves to close their facilities and offer delivery and pick-up options, County Commissioner Chair Daren Schuster said.
