Events and locations closed, canceled, rescheduled and still going on

The Havre Daily News has been deluged with notices of closures, cancelations and reschedulings caused by the confirmation of COVID-19 in Montana.

Following is a list of some of the notices the newspaper has received.

Food Bank is open

Havre Community Food Bank is staying open to serve residents in need, but is imposing some restrictions to restrict exposure to novel coronavirus 2019.

A maximum of two people will be allowed in the food bank lobby at one time.

People are asked to used the hand sanitizer on the front counter before handling food.

The Food and Drug Administration strongly recommends people thoroughly was all produce before consuming it.

People who are sick can call Samantha Nimmick at 265-2007 to make arrangements.

The food bank is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Feed My Sheep Soup Kitchen

The soup kitchen will remain open, with regular hours, providing sack lunches to go, until further notice.

“All are welcome,” the soup kitchen posted. “We are happy to offer food and encouragement to our community as usual.”

North Central Montana Transit

North Central Montana Transit announced it will close from now through March 27, with plans to resume normal bus schedules Monday, March 30.

“We apologize for the inconvenience, but feel that this is the responsible action to take on our part to reduce the risk of any chance of spreading COVD-19,” the system said in a press release. “We greatly appreciate your patronage and hope everyone stays safe and healthy.”

Fort Belknap Transit

Fort Belknap Transit announced it was not running Monday.

Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation

Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation declared a state of emergency over the weekend and asked anyone who had been to locations with confirmed cases of COVID-19 or exposure to people with COVID-19 to go into a period of self-isolation. Stone Child College restricted access to students, faculty and staff only.

First Lutheran Preschool closing

First Lutheran Church's Preschool announced it will be closed until April 13.

News of the preschool’s situation will be updated as the situation moves forward.

School closures

Gov. Steve Bullock ordered Sunday all K-12 public schools in Montana to close through March 27.

North Star Schools pick ups set for today

With the governor-directed school closures to prevent exposure to the novel coronavirus 2019, North Star Schools is setting up procedures to pick up personal items.

Parents and guardians will be able to pick up your student's learning materials and personal belongings from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at North Star Elementary and North Star Junior High and High School.

In order to practice proper social distancing measures, people are asked to pull up in front of the school and materials will be brought to them at their vehicle. People are asked to not come into the building.

Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet

Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Hi-Line Chapter announced the banquet scheduled in Havre for Saturday has been postponed indefinitley.

The chapter said information is forthcoming for people who already purchased tickets to talk about providing a refund if they cannot come to the rescheduled date.

Knights of Columbus fish fries canceled

The Knights of Columbus lenten fish fries set for March 20 in Chinook and March 27 and April 3 in Havre have been canceled.

Decisions on whether to hold future fish fries have not been made.

Hi-Line District Scouts adult pinewood derby

The Adult Pinewood Derby set for April 4 in Havre has been postponed.

Information will be provided when it is rescheduled.

Havre Police Protective Association concert

The Havre Police Protective Association Aaron Tippin concert set for April 9 will be rescheduled.

Havre Community Pool

Havre Community Pool will be closed through March 27.

Havre-Hill County Library

Havre-Hill County Library will be closed through March 27. We are asking people not to return any items that they currently have checked out for the time being.

First-time homebuyer classes to be rescheduled

First-time homebuyers class at Fort Belknap Housing Authority March 21 and at District 4 Human Resources Development Council March 25-26 have been canceled.

HRDC said rescheduled dates will be released soon.
