Obituary - Betty J. Bauer

Betty J. Bauer, 90, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Care Center February 18, 2020.

Cremation has taken place, and memorial services will be held this summer.

Betty's family has suggested memorial donations be made in her name to Friends of Beaver Creek Park.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Betty was born May 27, 1929, in Chinook to Niels and Josephine (Hoem) Thompson. She was raised in Chinook, graduating from Chinook High School.

In 1952, Betty married Herbert J. Bauer in Chinook. They had their six children. Betty worked as a bookkeeper and human resources assistant at Northern Montana Hospital, retiring when she was 83.

Betty was a kind, loving woman who attended TOPS faithfully and enjoyed crafting and trips to Beaver Creek Park. However, her family was her life, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren the light of it. Any time spent with family was treasured.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert J. Bauer; son Nicholas James Bauer; grandson James Paul Bakker; great-granddaughter Rayen Pool; parents, Niels and Josephine Thompson; and siblings: Leif, Grant, Levi, Norman, Virginia(Gina) Wing Ettien, Lilian(Bill) Phipps, Ruth Brandon, Amy Thompson, and Marilyn Bartow.

Betty is survived by her children H. Scott (Tanya Petterson) Bauer of Rochester, MN, Brenda Bauer of Santa Fe, NM, Mary Beth (Rob) Elletson of Havre, MT, India Bauer of Helena, MT, and Matthew Bauer of Seattle, WA; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
