Harlem's Brad Cichosz set the all-time Montana single-game scoring record for a Montana High School Association game Saturday night when he scored 68 points against the Poplar Indians in Harlem.
Harlem's Brad Cichosz has already had a special senior year, but it just got more special.
Cichosz won a state championship in cross country in the fall.
And even before Saturday night, his senior season in basketball was going well, with Harlem atop the District 2B standings, and Cichosz averaging more than 20 points per game.
But he certainly made more memories in his final home game.
On senior night, Cichosz scored a state record 68 points in Harlem's 101-53 win over the Poplar Indians. According to the Montana High School Association, Cichosz had broke the record of 65 points, which was set by Wally Doney of Pine Hills and Shane Lorash of Reed Point, both coming during the 1988 season.
According to the scorebook sent to the Havre Daily News, Cichosz scored 23 points by the end of the first quarter and 44 by halftime. He had 66 of his record-shattering 68 points by the end of the third quarter. It was announced over the PA system that Cichosz had broken the state record for points in a single game.
Cichosz also nearly reached the record for 3-pointers in a game. He hit 12 bombs in Saturday's contest, which was two behind Manhattan Christian's Sam Leep, who buried 14 triples in a game earlier this year. Cichosz was also on fire all weekend long, as he scored 31 points in a Friday-night win over Box Elder as Harlem finished 16-2 on the season.
The Wildcats are expected to go deep into the postseason, starting this week with the District 2B in Malta. However, no matter what happens from here on out, Cichosz' name will forever be in the lore of Montana high school basketball.
"I don't have words for it," Cichosz told 406mtsports.com. "It's a good way to go out my senior year, last game on my home court. I made history."
