Hunter education classes offered in Havre

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Hunter Education classroom course dates have been set for the Havre area for this year.

Three regular youth classroom courses will be offered this spring.  The courses will be held at Montana State University-Northern at Cowan Hall, Room 300, and are free of charge. 

The course dates are:

Class 1:

Feb. 20, 6-7 p.m. — orientation

Feb. 24-28 — class

Feb. 29 — field day/live shoot

Class 2:

April 16, 6-7 p.m. — orientation

April 20-24 — class

April 25 — field day/live shoot

Class 3:

May 7, 6-7 p.m. — orientation

May 11-15 — class

May 16 — field day/live shoot

For youth to be eligible to hunt and be fully certified during the 2020 season, they must be 12 years old by Jan. 16, 2021.  Students ages 10 and 11 can take the course and hunt as an apprentice, but will not be fully certified until the year they turn 12.  All registrants for this event must be 10 years of age by the first day of class. 

Classroom students need to pick up the Hunter Education Manual from either the Havre FWP office, Bing ’N’ Bob’s, Stromberg’s Sinclair or the North 40.

Students are to read each chapter and complete all review sections before the start of class.
