'Take Your Child to the Library Day' open house set for Saturday

Havre-Hill County Library will be hosting an open house, “Take Your Child to the Library Day,” Saturday, Feb. 1 from noon to 5 p.m.

Havre-Hill County Library Children’s Librarian Ashley Verity said this is the first “Take Your Child to the Library Day,” which is a part of February’s Library Lovers Month.

“I thought it would be a fun thing to put on as a little outreach program to get families back into the library,” she said. “The point of taking your child to the library is to know that they have an amazing resource just down the road.”

She added that if the event goes well, she would like to make it an annual event.

Refreshments such as cookies, coffee and juice will be served, and Legos and coloring will be available for child’s entertainment.

Stories will also be read by Verity at 12:15, 2:15 and 4:15 p.m., she said.

“Who doesn’t like fun free family entertainment?” Verity said. “The library is more than just coming in for a book or checking your email really quick, (this event) is an outreach thing.”
