Jnai Sophia Verploegen of Havre, 29, was arrested on a partner or family member assault charge after an Anderson Road caller asked at 1:30 a.m. today to speak with a deputy about an altercation.
Havre Fire Department
Emergency medical personnel responded to three calls Tuesday, and firefighters responded to a smoke alarm on the 800 Block of Fourth Street at 9:42 p.m., but the alarm was activated by smoke from cooking.
Havre Animal Shelter
The Havre shelter this morning held 11 cats of unknown gender, two female 9-month-old kittens, four male cats, three female cats, one female 19-week-old kitten and one male 7-month-old kitten. Shelter personnel are working on another round of their trap/spay-neuter/release program, this time in the Fairview Trailer Court area, to help control the ferrel cat population in the city.

The shelter also held this morning a male American bulldog, a female mix-breed 21-week-old puppy, a male American Eskimo dog, a female mix-breed 7-month-old puppy, a male mix-breed dog, a female mix-breed 6-week-old puppy, a female mix-breed 6-month-old puppy, a male mix-breed 10-month-old puppy, a female Labrador retriever dog and a male mix-breed 8-month-old puppy.
